Cercle Bruges – RFC Liège: 25 years of friendship

  • Cercle Bruges and RFC Liège football fans are friends for over more than 25 years. Both teams have ancient roots: RFCL was founded in 1892 and has matricule 4, Cercle Bruges in 1899 and holds matricule 12. In the road to the Belgian Cup Final 2016, both teams met last Saturday. The encounter was much more than just a football game: fans fraternised and celebrated their long-lasting brotherhood. Fan of traditional football teams? Come and join me for a game in Bruges. Twenty-five years of friendship is what we could call a Silver Wedding Anniversary. A marriage still holding up well. Last Saturday we saw our friends from Liège on the occasion of the Fifth Round in the road to Belgian Cup Final 2015-2016. A game we all looked forward to! Fans organised a friendly football game and celebrated their brotherhood in and around the stadium. The official game later on that evening was won by Cercle, 2-0. After the game, the players of both teams were applauded by all supporters. 650 Liège fans made the trip to Bruges, which is not bad at all for a team playing in the Third Division of the Belgian Football Competition. In a few weeks we play an away game against Seraing. As we will be in Liège, we will certainly pay a visit to Café Sang & Marine, RFCL’s supporters pub run by two heavy fans. Another beautiful day ahead. Leve Cercle! Forza Liège!
